Q. What is the difference between live-in and 24-hour care?
With 24-hour care, the expectation is that the client needs constant attention and can not be left alone in a room unattended. A caregiver is constantly on duty. 24-hour care is divided into multiple shifts and is served by multiple caregivers. With live-in care, there is an expectation that the client needs attention most of the day when awake. When the client retires for the night, so will the caregiver, who will stay in a room at the client’s house.
Q: Are caregivers bonded?
Yes, all caregivers are bonded.
Q: What are your requirements for placing a caregiver in my home? How do I know that they are competent and reliable?
All of our staff must meet the following requirements before being hired: Evidence of experience; submission of current licenses and/or certification; ability to read, write, and speak English; written references; criminal history checks (CORI); drug screen; TB screen; caregivers and other staff are fully bonded and insured according to the laws of the state of Massachusetts; nurse’s aide registry checks. Learn more about our hiring process and our commitment to providing each client with their own professional nurse.
Q: Are all employees supervised on a regular basis?
Absolutely! All caregivers are directly supervised by our Director of Nursing. All employees receive detailed instructions regarding clients’ needs. A supervisor is available at all times for caregivers to discuss their cases. Regular supervision is provided according to the client and caregiver’s needs. During the supervisory visit, the client’s condition and level of service are reassessed. All changes are reported to the family and/or physician. Caregivers who cannot meet the client’s or company’s expectations are dismissed.
Q: Will a nurse return to the client’s house to check on the patient’s status and evaluate the caregiver in action?
Yes. Visits (by your personal nurse) are based on the number of hours of service the client needs each week. A registered nurse will return to the client’s home to check on the patient, perform a nursing evaluation, and evaluate how things are going. Caregivers are not made aware ahead of time when these visits will take place, so they never know when their supervisor will be showing up
Q: How does Hahn Home Health Care Inc. choose my caregiver?
Many factors influence this decision, including what kind of services the care plan requires, your location, caregiver capabilities, and match-making! Part of the evaluation is simply meeting the client and trying to understand the client’s personality. This evaluation helps us match the client with a caregiver who not only possesses the correct skill set but also the correct personality.
Q: Are you available whenever a question or concern arises?
All clients and staff can call us around the clock, 24/7/365, to speak directly to a nurse. When Hahn Home Health Care Inc. places a caregiver in your home, and a service or clinical problem arises, a nurse is always available to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Q. How much does it cost?
That depends on what services you require, how many hours/week they’re required, and their duration. We’ll be happy to discuss the specifics and details with you.
Q: Are all caregivers employees of Hahn Home Health Care Inc.?
Yes, all caregivers are employees and are not independent contractors. This distinction means workers’ compensation insurance covers them.
Q: What’s the process for getting a caregiver in my home?
We first schedule an evaluation visit to your home, where all family decision-makers should be present. A registered nurse will go to the client’s home and perform a client assessment. After completing the assessment, we develop a customized care plan; it determines what level of service is needed and what staff skill level is required. We encourage family input as we develop this plan. The care plan will never include more services than you need but will be adequate for staying safely in your home.

No, Hahn Home Health Care Inc. is a “private pay” home care agency. We help clients submit paperwork for long-term care insurance they may have, as well as paperwork for the VA.
